Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information RON — Radar of News collects when you use ron.news, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep the list short on purpose: we collect only what the site needs to work.

Last updated: 31 July 2026

Information we collect

You can read RON without giving us any personal information. We only collect personal data when you choose to create an account or contact us.

  • Account information. If you register, we store your name, email address, and — where you sign in with a password — a securely hashed version of that password. We never store passwords in readable form.
  • Sign-in provider data. If you sign in through Google, we receive your basic profile details (name and email) from that provider. We do not receive your Google password.
  • Preferences. Your chosen edition, content language, and notification settings, so the site can show you the right version.
  • Messages you send us. If you use our contact form, we keep what you write and how to reply to you.
  • Technical data. Standard server logs generated when any browser requests a page, used for security and diagnosing faults.
Information stored in your browser

RON stores a small amount of data locally in your browser rather than on our servers. This includes your sign-in session token (so you stay signed in between visits) and your display preferences, such as light or dark theme. This data stays on your device and is cleared when you sign out or clear your browser storage.

How we use your information
  • To operate the site, sign you in, and keep your session active.
  • To show you the edition and language you have selected.
  • To respond when you contact us or report a correction.
  • To protect the site against abuse, fraud, and unauthorised access.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

Third-party services

Some parts of RON rely on outside services to function — for example, sign-in through Google, and embedded content such as market data or weather panels supplied by external providers. When such content loads, the provider may receive technical information about the request, such as your IP address. Their handling of that data is governed by their own privacy policies, not ours.

How long we keep information

Account information is kept while your account is active. Messages sent through our contact form are kept for as long as needed to deal with the matter raised and to maintain a record of how it was handled. Server logs are retained for a limited period for security purposes.

Your choices
  • You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • You may ask us to correct information that is inaccurate.
  • You may ask us to delete your account and the personal information attached to it.
  • You may sign out at any time, which clears your session data from your browser.

To make any of these requests, use our Contact Form. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

Children

RON is a general news publication and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will remove it.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information we hold, including hashed password storage, encrypted transmission, and access controls that limit who on our team can reach reader data. No online service can promise perfect security, and we do not claim to.

Legal framework

RON operates from Pakistan. Our handling of data is guided by the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016 and by generally accepted data-protection practice. Pakistan's comprehensive data protection legislation is still progressing through Parliament; when it comes into force, we will review this policy and update it to reflect the obligations it creates.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes or as the law develops. When we do, we will revise the date shown at the top of this page. Continued use of RON after an update means you accept the revised policy.
